Col McGuire is the Commander for the 173d Medical Group, 173d Fighter Wing, Oregon Air National Guard, Klamath Falls, OR. She is responsible for the medical readiness of the 173d Fighter Wing and assists the 550th Medical Group to assure medical readiness for their local members. Dr. McGuire received her Bachelor’s degree and Doctorate in Medicine from the University of New Mexico, where she earned her commission via the Health Professions Scholarship Program. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Wright-Patterson AFB as well as a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at San Antonio Military Medical Center at Brooks AFB. Upon completion of training, Dr. McGuire served as Director of Diabetes Prevention for the USAF as well as Associate Fellowship Director before deploying to support OEF in 2012. She was one of nine Endocrinologists in the USAF. She returned in 2013 and subsequently transferred to Kirtland AFB as Chief of Internal Medicine until transitioning to the NMANG in Sep 2014 . Col McGuire served over 10 years on active duty during which time she introduced Project ECHO as a force multiplier for medical subspecialties across the Air Force. While serving in the ANG, Dr. McGuire cross-trained as a flight surgeon in 2016 and was an invited speaker to the School of Aerospace Medicine, developing a first ever curriculum for Women in Aviation as well as an Aerospace Medicine Endocrinology block in 2018. She served as the Chief of Medical Staff at the 150th MDG at Kirtland AFB from 2019 to 2021 and transitioned to the SGP at Kingsley Field in Jan 2022. On 7 Jan 2023, Col McGuire took command of the 173d MDG.
