U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Brent Ardolino, 270th Air Traffic Control Squadron Radar, Airfield, and Weather Systems (RAWS) technician, demonstrates operation of radar equipment operated at Kingsely Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon March 25, 2021. Ardolino was recognized as the Air National Guard 2020 RAWS Non Commissioned Officer of the Year for his exceptional contributions to the career field, his unit, and his surrounding community. “I always try to be the first one to volunteer when opportunities exist,” said Ardolino. In addion to his volunteer spirit, he also performs a wide range of duties as one of the few full time Airmen in the 270th ATCS, one of only a handful of deployable air traffic control squadrons. “We can be anywhere in the world and set up in 72 hours,” he added. When not involved in the quarterly drill, Ardolino can be seen all over the base, from the air traffic control tower to the radar trailer. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Senior Airman Adam Smith)
