Change of Command at Kingsley Field

A change of command will take place at  2 p.m, April 3, at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Ore.  Colonel Jeffrey Smith, with over 20 years of military experience, will take command of the 173rd Fighter Wing during a change of command ceremony.

Smith has a wide range of experience to include 10 years with the active-duty component and has been a member or the Oregon Air National Guard since 2005.  Currently serving as the 173rd Maintenance Group Commander, Smith has previously held numerous positions within the 173rd FW to include the 173rd Maintenance Group Deputy Commander, 173rd Maintenance Squadron Commander, and the 114th Fighter Squadron Director of Operations. 

"Col. Smith is one of Kingsley's own, with strong relationships at the national level.  I have no doubt that he will successfully carry on the 173rd Fighter Wing's legacy of excellence as he leads the Wing forward," said Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Silver, Oregon Air National Guard Commander.

Smith will replace Col. Kirk Pierce, who has commanded the 173rd Fighter Wing since January 2015.
